Q: What are the system requirements for installing EOB Express?

A: EOB Express is designed to work with a variety of patient billing systems. It typically requires a separate server from the patient billing system. In most medical practices, it is easy to store several years of documents online, after which the documents may be moved to other servers, or other types of storage media. Minimum system requirements are as follows:

Server
Windows 2003 Server through Windows Server 2012
20 GB hard disk space minimum
Standard 10/100 MB or better Ethernet network

Workstations
Windows 9x through Windows 7
256 MB RAM minimum
200 MB disk space available

Scanners
We recommend using Fujitsu "fi" series scanners with EOB Express.

Printers

Q: How many documents can we store with this system?

A: This is limited only by available disk space on your server. With todays low cost disk drives, you can easily store 2 or 3 years of documents. To put numbers to it, you can store about 200,000 documents on a 9GB hard drive. So if you post 100 EOB pages per day, and scan 50 insurance cards per day, you could store about 66 months of documents on 9 GB. You can see that you can store a tremendous number of documents on a relatively small disk drive.

Q: What if we do run out of disk space?

A: EOB Express has built-in capabilities to utilize multiple network storage locations, so adding additional storage space for more documents is simple and efficient.
